COVER NOTES
At the close of the Twenty-first Century, Lee Vidar is a switch pilot working for Starship Industries on the Callisto-Europa run. The job is easy: Lee picks up the Orion engines which will be used to power the first starships of Earth on the long voyage to the earthlike world of Hope, in the Alpha Centauri system. The engines are taken by tug to the midpoint of the run, where Lee hands off the dangerous cargo to another switch pilot and returns to Callisto. But on this run, nothing goes according to plan ... and Lee's sometime lover and old friend Johnny Dujon, is involved up to his eyeballs.

Nuts and bolts SF and an unexpected romance, set against the background of an overpopulated and ruined solar system, where the planet Hope is quite literally the last prayer Humanity has left ... and humanity is in big trouble.

Pullquote:
Mel Keegan’s name is a byword for thrilling gay adventure in the past, present and future — MILLIVRES on Aquamarine.

CALLISTO SWITCH

This one's like a movie tie-in - you can see it on the sceen. Would make a great movie similar in lots of ways to OUTLAND (that one was also set on Jupiter) and I think FIREFLY. Not that anything in [CALLISTO SWITCH] is like those others, but I really get into these scifi shows (and books) where everything's 'dirty' and you can see how things work. Like ALIENS. Mel Keegan does this stuff sooooo great. (I'm also pretty damn sure Josh Whedon has read Mel Keegan, because there's things in common between some of the Keegan books and FIREFLY/SERENITY ... and then I checked the copyright dates, and MEL DID IT FIRST. Like ten years before!! So there's something for you, if anybody needed a rec. Then, plus, there's the gay spin on these characters and you gotta love it. You can stop wishing and imagining your 'subtext' stuff,' and enjoy The Real Deal.

I just realized I didn't talk a lot about CALLISTO SWITCH and this is supposed to be a review. Oops. I got the ebook version, I loved it, great story, really REAL characters. Rating: four outta five stars. To score five, tell MK he needs to go back to writing red-hot sex like he used to!!! But I know some people get fazed. So, what the hell? It's just me I guess. Maybe I have no imagination??? :D
